This week, you will listen to four videos to the right. As you listen, you should think about how the timbre (the tone color) and pitch (highness/lowness) of the instruments are different. Also, you need to think about the style of music that you are hearing.
Here are some good timbre words:
light or heavy; dark or bright; breathy; punchy; clear; focussed or unfocussed; piercing; harsh; warm; mellow; resonant; flat; vibrato (do you hear it vibrating?) or no vibrato
Write 8 sentences: One sentence about each instrument that describes how it is uniquely different than the other three, and another sentence that describes the style of music that the instrument is playing.
Rubric:
20 pts - Students commented correctly using the blog, and included their name.
20 pts - Students comment on pitch of different instruments.
20 pts - Students correctly comment on the timbre of different instruments.
20 pts - Students correctly comment on the style of the music that each instrument is playing.
20 pts - Students used correct grammar and spelling.

The violin seem like it suppose to focus on one beat. The timbre of the instrument is heavy, bright, and focus, and the pitch is low. Viola is a instrument that seems to tell a specific story. Timbre of this instrument is heavy, dark, and clear, and the pitch is also low. A Cello instument is someting you look for when in need of high notes. The timbre is light, brigght, and punchy, and the pitch is high. String Bass is more a jazz or blues instrument. It has a timbre of heavy, dark, and mellow, and with the pitch of low.
The Jazz Bass is very low in pitch. Its very dark and heavy. This would be considered classical. Yo-Yo Ma and Booby McFerrin would be popular and classical. The violin is very high and the cello is a little lower. The string bass is low. The Violist was classical. The violin was high and it was very light and bright. The style of the Hip-Hop violin is popular. The violin is high. It is also piercing and bright.
